My name is Tim Shurr and I've been a small business owner and entrepreneur for 27 years. Over this time, I've experienced the highs of making lots of money, and the lows of losing (or spending) it all.
It seemed like whenever I had finally built up a healthy amount of savings or paid off a large debt, something unexpected showed up that took away my financial peace of mind.
For example, I paid off all my credit cards in August, 2001 and then the 9/11 terrorist attacks occurred, which immediately wiped out income for six months...and I was immediately back in debt.
During that time, I turned to trusted mentors by reading their books and studying their recorded audio programs. They provided me with much needed inspiration AND business strategies that never go out of style. I'd get back on my feet, find new ways of adding value for customers, and eventually became profitable again.
My business was very profitable for several years for two main reasons. First, I refused to give up on my dream, and second, I hired brilliant coaches to help with both business and personal growth. Then in 2009, the financial crisis struck and almost put me out of business again over the next couple years.
Once more, I turned to trusted mentors. These were not the "online gurus" who appear for a short period time bragging about how much money they made that month while standing in front of a jet or fleet of fancy cars that they didn't actually own.
My mentors are people who've been at the top of their game for multiple decades, Brian Tracy, Les Brown, Dr. Denis Waitley, Bob Proctor, Ken Blanchard, Patricia Fripp, Jim Cathcart, Dr. John Demartini, and Dr. Joe Vitale.
With the help of mentors and coaches, in 2015 I made more money than in the last three years combined. Thus, just like Clark Griswold (main character from National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation movie), I bought a pool! Soon after, my accountant informed me that I also had a tax bill due the size of the last three years combined.
